The Relation between Self-Esteem and Irrational Beliefs of Adolescents with Mental Disorder

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to directly and systematically investigated the relation between Ellis theory of the Irrational Beliefs and the Self-esteem of adolescents with Mental Disorder and the Self-esteem that predicted the Irrational
Beliefs
were
identified.

IBT(irrational
beliefs test).
The collected data were analyzed by SPSS/ PC+(frequency, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA), Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression).
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The Self-esteem of subjects mean score were 81.70 and the Irrational Beliefs of subjects mean score was 335.30.
2. In the comparison between the general characteristics of subjects and the Self-esteem, only religion was different significantly(F=3.72, P=0.3).
In the comparison between the general characteristics of subjects and the Irrational Beliefs was not different significantly.
3. The relation between the Self-esteem and the Irrational Beliefs was significant correlated negatively by using Pearson correlation coefficient(r=-.42, p=.01).
4. The subfactors of Self-esteem effected on the Irrational Beliefs were the School-Academic Self-esteem & Home-Parents Self-esteem and predicted 45% of the cumulated variance by using Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis(F=13.57, p=.00).
